About

Transforming materials from the natural world using fire and your hands is an ancient process; that in itself makes each piece timeless.

Maureen Williams is...

A widely respected artist at the forefront of Australian glass practice, building her glass studio in 1993 in St Kilda, Melbourne Australia.

Her works have been collected by many institutions in Australia and overseas including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Artbank, and Die Neue Sammlung Museum (Munich, Germany).

She has travelled extensively in Europe and America where she has attended international glass conferences and the Pilchuck Glass School in the USA.

All of her works intersect and speak to the living elements that sustain humanity’s physical, spiritual, and emotional kaleidoscope of interpretations and lived experiences.

“The work makes reference to travel and narrates the voyage through real and imaginary views. A sense of place, of being in the land, that cannot be rationally known.”

“To see a world in a grain of sand.” - William Blake
